The stigma of going into a dental office can be scary for some. The main objective of this project was to create a space that does not feel like a typical institutional clinical office but a warm and inviting space that would remind you of going to visit a neighbor. Successfully introducing bright light colors, natural wood tones, beautiful views to the exterior, large quotes and fun imagery on the walls help to create this lighter atmosphere. 

Visual aesthetics are only one small part of changing a long term stigma surrounding an office or experience.  It is equally important to understand human environmental behavior; how the interior environment  can effect how the patient reacts.  One of the key things in providing the patient the best comfort is to create distractions. Research has shown if you provide a distraction whether its a view out of a window or your favorite show on a tv above your head, it will help take your mind off the procedure. The owner of Park Smiles fully grasped this concept and employed it throughout his practice, making it voted the Best of Winterpark.  Each exam room features large windows to allow in natural light and give beautiful views to the exterior landscaping, ceiling mounted televisions that are patient controlled and layered lighting to soften the ambience of each room.  The waiting space features a residential-like furniture layout with larger lounge chairs, upholstered benches and a kid-friendly area for the youngest patients.  From your entry into the practice through your treatment and check out, the interior ambience of Park Smiles continues to remind patients that they are happy to be your neighbor!
